This is the weekend when families and friends get together and give thanks. It's this last quarter of the year that I love the most...(Matt too). It's not just because we're done the crazy hectic scheduling of personal life vs. photography, it's more the entire reflectiveness that comes along with Autumn. As much as it's an ending of summer, it's a beginning of something too. It's the time of year when I get to actually sit and think about the past year, all of the amazing moments we were able to experience (and capture) and the beautiful people we got to do it with.
One "wow" moment that Matt and I had this year was at one of the last weddings we attended. The couples slideshow started playing, and we got to witness all of these still shots of little moments in their lives, from 1st birthdays, to first days of school, kisses from grandma and of course the awkward years. Matt and I were standing in the doorway witnessing their families laughter, and "awwww's" in the glow of the screen...and Matt leaned over and whispered to me "what we do MATTERS." It hit me. "You're right. It does."
It does. I think too often we sometimes get caught up with making the most stunning magazine style image, when the most beautiful image we could possibly take is the raw emotion found in the faces of those experiencing the moment. This year has taught us that. And I am so thankful to all of the families and guests and couples who let us capture you in the moment.
These are a few of the images that matter. THANKS for GIVING us that.
