This one is a little late in being blogged, Matt and I tend to use the Cold Season for some R&R for our marriage, personal projects and planning for the year to come, but I've been excited to blog this one for a while! So while the weather outside heats up…let this Winter Wedding be a nice little refresher for you. Saskatchewan! It's new to me. :)
This was our first ever wedding in Saskatchewan, and my (Amanda) first time EVER being IN Saskatchewan for more than a quick day trip to Cypress Hills! We lucked out on the drive there, no snow, and plenty of sunshine, but man it was cold! This was also our first wedding we had ever booked over Skype without actually meeting the couple until the wedding rehearsal (the day before the wedding). We lucked out with Cam and Kaleigh AND their families, they were absolutely wonderful, and we had such a great time getting to know everyone and they welcomed us with open arms. We all clicked right away and I understood why small town Sask was so appealing to everyone. The entire community was tight-knit and had a warmth about them that made you feel like family the moment you got there.
I must say, I've never seen a church more full than this one. All of the seats, including the balcony and the choir benches were packed to the brim and the back wall was even lined with people. It wasn't surprising in the least now that we'd gotten to know Cam and Kaleigh a little better. :)
I have to give major points to this wedding party for braving the cold (and 100km winds) and pretending they were LOVING the photo-taking when, in fact, everyone was completely numb to the bone! It was a series of me instructing the pose on the bus, them running out of the bus with their jackets on, Matt running down the line of people, collecting their jackets, me shooting as fast as I possibly could and everyone DASHING back to the warm bus. The teamwork and good morale was impeccable.
Also, this wedding contained my first ever FLASH-MOB dance! Cam and Kaleigh had NO idea that this was going to happen, and it was pure joy seeing their reaction. Again, this tight-knit family proved just how much they loved each other by taking the time to plan and learn all the steps--it was truly an honour to watch.
Cam and Kaleigh, we wish you two all the best, and thank you for such an incredible first-time Saskatchewan experience. :)
